MYSTICAL MAN IN THE MOON ( Edwardian Jewelry “Man in the Moon” Moonstone Ring ): I could not resist offering this delicately rendered Edwardian Moonstone Ring. (Edwardian – Belle Époque: c. 1890-1920) Colorless stones were popular after the long reign of Queen Victoria ended. Clothing became light and lacy in direct contrast to the dark and heavy styles favored by the Victorians. The moonstone’s origins are surrounded by myth and lore. Believed to be a sacred gem in India, it was thought to actually be a solid piece of moonlight and to bring about beautiful dreams. It is most appealing when carved as the smiling face of the man in the moon, as seen in this mystical diminutive 14KT Gold ring. (Jeweler tested.) The narrow band splits into 3 as the shank meets the bezel set moonstone. This is a ring size 7 1/2. From the moon to your finger this moonstone ring is beautifully suited to young women or those ladies who feel comfortable in the small scale petite jewels that so enchanted the Edwardian Age. Condition: Excellent. No chips. Size: Ring size is 7 1/2. It could be sized to fit you. Carved Moonstone is 1/2” in diameter. Width of band at back is 1/8”, shank is just over 1/4”.
