SILVER REFLECTIONS ( Victorian Jewelry Mirror Pendant ): Swirling rococo chasing in two different designs adorn the front and back of this huge, fabulous late-Victorian (c. 1900) silver pendant. (Hallmarks on the bale indicate that the piece is English.) Look closely at the exquisite depth and variety in designs - ruffles, flourishes, florals and geometrics - run riot in this amazing design. It looks like a locket, but when twisted sideways it opens to reveal one of the most practical things a lady can have handy - a mirror! Check your makeup or that spinach in your teeth without having to open your purse. Lined in green velvet, this lovely metal mirror pendant may once have been part of a chatelaine (the Victorian lady’s Swiss Army Knife), or it may have been worn on a necklace. The choice of how to wear it can by yours since its flower trimmed bale is large enough for a chain or a neck ring. Condition: Excellent. Size: 2 1/2" high (minus bale), 2" wide, 3/8" deep.
