GERMAN GENTLEMAN ( Antique Conte & Boehme German Porcelain Pug Dog ): I say this is a Conte & Boehme Pug with 99% certainty. His size and molding are exactly the same as many C & B pugs I have had and seen. He only differs in his decoration. Most C & B pugs have brown legs with the white only running from the chin down along the belly. They have black or brown cheeks. You can see this pug has white legs and cheeks. The other difference is most C & B's have a large black pupil and this one has a “bull's eye” pupil. However, we do know that the C & B artists had some leeway since I have one in my personal collection that is all white. This pug is unmarked as are most C & B pugs. Regardless his differences he is a very handsome fellow – a lovely addition to any

Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks or repairs. Checked with black light. Much of gold rubbed off his bells and bow, generally true of antique pugs since the gold is “cold painted”. The gold trim of his collar is intact. Small scratched area on the top of his head (see photo).
Size: 5” high, 6” long, 2 3/4” wide.
