Pug Figurines: PP465 A & B

FAUX MEISSEN PUG PAIR ( Vintage Chelsea House Porcelain Pug Dogs ): During the 20th Century the Chelsea House Porcelain Company of England was famous for making high quality reproductions of famous antique figurines – including a handful of Pugs based on Meissen Pugs. They are not easily found and have become quiet collectable. This is the first true pair I have had of this Meissen based male and female with a suckling pup. I have placed photos of the female and the original Meissen side by side. (As of now, you will find that original Meissen – PP519 – for sale on these pages.) A number of companies marked their Meissen reproductions with hallmarks very similar to the famous Meissen Crossed Swords – attempting to fool collectors. (You can still find them on eBay.) Chelsea House never did that – clearly marking their figurines with their name. The quality of the hand painted decorations and of the molding is quite high. Please appreciate the fancy yellow collars and bows, the multicolored flowers on the bases and the gold tassels at each corner. Also note the hairs of the coat are not only painted on the backs and heads, but are actually molded all over the entire bodies. For those of you that prefer collecting nice sized Pug Pairs at reasonable prices – these are perfect!
