LITTLE MEISSEN BOY WITH BELLS ( Meissen Pug Dog ): This is a charming male Meissen Pug, sporting 5 golden Victorian Bells on his light blue collar with a golden buckle - features increasing his rarity and his value. Meissen was the first company in Europe to produce fine hard paste porcelain (1710) and pugs have been among their favored figurines since the 1700’s. Most Meissen pugs you’ll see, including this one, have been made in the 20th Century, but using molds from the 18th & 19th Centuries. The quality of the porcelain, the molding and the decorating has been maintained for 3 Centuries. Notice the beautiful expression on this fellow’s face. He has the famous Meissen Crossed Swords Hallmark on his belly, along with an impressed "738" (the model) & "38 AB" (the molder), as well as a red "2828" (the decorating artist). Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks or repairs. Size: 2 5/8" high, 2 3/4" long.
