BLUE-EYED BEAUTY ( Antique Porcelain Pug Dog ): This good looking Victorian Pug falls into the category of what I call “cat-faced” pugs – purely descriptive. She differs from the others I’ve seen in having beautiful blue eyes. She is nicely molded and decorated. The gold is worn off the front of the bells or studs on her collar, as is almost always the case in antique pugs. Gold or gilt could not stand the temperature required to become a part of the glaze, so had to be painted on, thus more subject to wear than other colors. I’m not sure whether this pug is English or German in origin. A nice addition for your collection – she is posed to display. Condition: Excellent. Size: 4 1/2” high, 3” long, 2 1/4” deep.
