19TH CENTURY FEMALE CONTA & BOEHME PORCELAIN PUG: This is a classic Victorian German porcelain pug dog. She has the cropped ears of the typical old German pugs and the collar adorned with large golden bells found on the well-dressed 18th & 19th century pug. What makes this old pug different and more valuable than most of similar appearance is that she carries the impressed shield trademark of Conta & Boehme, a German Porcelain Manufactory famous in the latter half of the 19th century. They made the wonderful Victorian Porcelain Fairing Pieces for English fairs. The "III", also impressed in the base, probably indicates the model number. Condition: Excellent. Some of the gold paint is worn off of her bells, but otherwise she’s in great shape. Many of these old porcelain pugs have broken or repaired tails or bells or collar bows - but this one is fully intact. 4" high, 4 1/2" long.
