NOBLE ANTLER EAGLE FETISH ( Vintage Native American Zuni Indian Eagle Fetish ): Have you ever wondered why the name - “Fetish” - used for the small carved figurines, most commonly carved by Zuni artists, also means “an object of unreasonably excessive attention or reverence”? Ever since we first started vacationing in New Mexico & Arizona in the 1960's we rarely returned home without one of the little beauties. Yes, it became a personal “fetish”! To limit this fetish we decided we would only collect highly carved figurines made of green serpentine. Thus, this Eagle Fetish made from deer antler and hallmarked on the bottom must fly away. I think you can see the finely carved feathers on his delicate wings and his turquoise eyes. The Zuni considered the Eagle to be the guardian of the sky. He is the messenger of the gods and associated with power, dignity and grace. Eagle feathers are still used in the sacred ceremonies of the Zuni. Give this noble bird a new home.

Condition: Excellent.
Size: 2” high, 1/2” wide, 7/8” deep.
