SPECTACULAR STAMP WORK ( Native American Navajo Indian Pendant & Earrings ): This large Navajo Pendant and matching Clip Earrings are a tribute to one of the earliest decorative techniques used by Native Americans. Stamp Work is a process of decorating silver with punches. The punch, or stamp, is held in one hand and hit repeatedly with a hammer until the stamp pattern is impressed into the silver. Still a popular means of decoration, contemporary artists make their own stamps to create new designs. The horizontal pendant has a large bezel set oval of Gaspeite - one of the preferred new stones being used today. It is a bold green that blends beautifully with the more traditional stones. In this case, the stamp work front has been fused to a solid silver backing. The back of this pendant has two large rings to accommodate a thick neck wire. (Wire is not included.) The matching clip earrings repeat the same motifs. Purchased 5 years ago - contemporary and dramatic. Hallmarked “K. S.” and marked “Sterling”.

Condition: Excellent.
Size: Pendant 2 1/2” wide, 2” high, stone 1 1/2” x 1 1/4”. Earrings 1 1/2” high, 1 3/8” wide.
