FLORA – CROWNED WITH FLOWERS ( Victorian Antique Ivory Cameo Brooch / Pin ): The Roman goddess Flora, “mistress of the flowers” symbolizes new life, spring, regeneration and hope. This large early Victorian (c. 1840-60) Antique Ivory Cameo portrait of Flora depicts a delicate, more simply adorned version of the beautiful young maiden. Her loosely curled hair drapes down over her shoulders. A sprig containing six perfect Forget-Me-Nots runs from behind her right ear across the top of her head like a floral tiara. She wears a single strand of small pearls – both typical adornments of Flora. From about 1840 to 1870 high-relief work ivory cameos were very fashionable and often brought home from France as mementos or gifts by prosperous travelers. The antique Ivory has a lovely light patina. The fine grain can be seen on the darkened photo of the back. Particularly amazing about this Flora is that every single petal of her crown of flowers has remained intact for her 150 years of existence – quite rare indeed! She has her original peg set C clasp pin back. Ivory matches any color and compliments all skin tones. Sleek and elegant – this is an Ivory Cameo you can truly treasure!

Condition: Excellent. Amazingly perfect!
Size: 2 1/2" high, 1 1/2" wide, 5/8" deep.
