TREASURE UNDER THE SEA ( Vintage Bakelite Jewelry Judy Clarke Reverse Carved Fish Bangle ): One of the prize pieces of my personal collection. This Vintage Apple Juice Bakelite Sea-life Bangle is truly UNIQUE and I believe that it is the best reverse carved fish bangle that I have ever seen! One-of-a-kind. It is so densely carved that I can't describe it all, but let the photos tell the tale. Fishes of every size and color – red, yellow, brown – are just the beginning of this tribute to sea-life. The plants and grasses are astonishing in shape and color with many little hidden secret surprises running along the bottom of the bangle. There is a tiny red crab with pincher arms, a green moray eel peeking out under the brown fish and – my favorite – a tiny alligator with bulging eyes under the squiggly red coral. Really too superb to take it all in. Judy's pieces are hand carved works of art and require many hours of painstaking detailed work. The hand painting is so colorful and realistic that you will gasp with delight. Vintage Bakelite fish bangles have always been a true collector's dream and prices still go sky-high. I love it – you'll love it and covet it at this price. It pains me to part with it but my age says it must go to another admiring collector's home. A must have Vintage Bakelite Art Collector's dream bangle!

Condition: Excellent. Mint! (Frog not included. Sorry!)
Size: 1” wide, 3/8” deep, 2 1/2” inner opening.

ISADORA BLACK BLOSSOMS ( Vintage French Bakelite Jewelry Isadora Necklace ): This bold Vintage French “Isadora” Necklace will be a prized addition for any collector. (c. 1979) What could better compliment today's fashions then these sleek, glossy black floral blossoms. Add to these beauties three chrome yellow circular beads and four smaller black beads, one with a gold metal stripe around it. Black tubular beads lead up to an easy to use screw style closure. The black container, marked “ © ISADORA 79”, holds a glass perfume bottle still almost full of the original “Isadora” perfume, named after the famous American barefoot modern dancer, Isadora Duncan. The trademark and date – “ISADORA PARIS” above twin Art Deco ladies with “ © ISADORA 1979” below – are stamped on the back of two of the blossoms. All of her designs are made of French Bakelite (Galalith), a milk based plastic. Parisian, Danielle Poullain, created ISADORA in 1976. She designed jewelry for many Fashion designers and her pieces were always limited in production, adding to their cache and value. Fun and chic, this necklace will become one of your favorites!

Condition: Excellent.
Size: 18” long. Blossoms are 2” wide, 1 3/4” high, 1/2” deep.

SHULTZ CHECKERBOARD LIZARD ( Vintage Bakelite Jewelry Shultz Lizard Brooch / Pin ): Present day Bakelite artists, Don and Ester Shultz, have created this delightful checkerboard lizard pin. I have had it in my private collection since 2001 and am now offering it to a new collector who will love and treasure it as I have. The colorful oxidized vintage pieces have been polished to their original bright, vibrant, rich and intense colors – and then laminated over a deep red base. This cute life-sized guy has inlaid yellow eyes with black pupils. (Shultz lizards similar to this one are pictured in Karima Parry's book “Shultz Bakelite Jewelry” as well as in her “Bakelite Pins” book.) The back has a safety clasp. Checkerboards are dazzling because of their stunning precision. You are buying a hand made, signed work of art. Just picture this fanciful guy on your favorite jacket. He looks great on denims too – all eyes will be on you!

Condition: Excellent.
Size: 4 1/4” long, 1 3/4” wide, 3/8” deep.

LUMINOUS MOTHER-OF-PEARL ( Vintage Bakelite Jewelry Inset with MOP Carving Clamper Bracelet & Pin Set ): Here is another rare Vintage Bakelite set from my personal collection. Executed in superb detail, I am offering a Vintage Black Bakelite Set (clamper bracelet and matching pin) inset with hand carvings of luminous Mother-of-Pearl. (c. 1960) The bracelet and pin are hand carved as well with deeply scalloped edges. The hinged bracelet has a circular centerpiece with scalloped edges framing the exquisite carving of a chrysanthemum and forget-me-nots. The large oval of MOP in the matching brooch displays a larger version of the same floral theme. There is a safety catch on the pin closure. I have seen Vintage Bakelite set with figural metal decorations, mirrors, watches and even feathers! (Josephine Baker owned that piece.) But this set, using a black and white color scheme is strikingly dramatic and brings to mind the Art Deco period. You will be the center of attention wearing this rare set with luminous iridescent Mother-of-Pearl in sleek black Bakelite. They make a memorably glamorous pairing. You won't see this again!

Condition: Excellent. Tight hinge. Sold only as a set.
Size: Bracelet: 1 3/4” circular center piece with 1 1/4” circular MOP inset. Bracelet tapers from 1 3/8” wide in front to 3/4” in back, 1/4” thick. 2 1/2” inner opening. Brooch: 2 7/8” wide, 2” high, 1/4” deep. MOP inset 1 7/8” wide, 1 5/8” high.

For The Set

CHECK-MATE: (Judith Evans French Bakelite Checkerboard Bangle ): This bold and wide three row checkerboard domed bangle is by designer Judith Evans. Black and white checks are accented by red rims. These three row checks are top of the line pieces. The colorful red trim adds to the sleek polish of this beautiful bangle and it feels so smooth and satiny on your wrist. (This bangle is made without formaldehyde and does not test like Vintage Bakelite.) Black, white and red is a dynamite combination and creates a striking visual effect. The look of Vintage Bakelite at a price that makes your mouth water!

Condition: Excellent. Mint! (Frog not included. Sorry!)
Size: Ladies, this bangle has a larger inner opening of 2 5/8” instead of the 2 1/2” of Vintage bangles. 1 1/2” wide, 1/4” thick.

YUMMY LEAVES OF BAKELITE ( Vintage Bakelite Jewelry Brooch / Pin ): What a fabulous vintage find – a Bakelite Dangle Pin. (c. 1930-40) These pins have become very scarce. I think that collectors are hanging onto them because they realize that they have very desirable pieces. This delightful pin has thick hand carved leaves at the top and six gracefully curved caramel hanging leaves with pea soup colored bell shaped dangles at each leaf center. They all hang from a caramel colored celluloid chain. The “bells” are strung on white knotted cords. Time has not dimmed the luster of this scarce dangle pin. The original pin back includes a safety clasp closure. Colorful and appealing, this collector's brooch brings the pulse of the past into your life. Everything old becomes new again and adds a quick fix to update your fashion style. Fun and Fabulous!

Condition: Very good. A few very small white spots and some wear on cords. (Price reflects these.)
Size: Total length 4 1/2” long, hangs 3” wide. Each leaf 1 3/4” long, 1” wide. Bells 1/2” long.

DOMINO WINNER ( Vintage Bakelite Jewelry Domino Necklace & Earrings Set ): One of the delights of Bakelite jewelry is the pure fun of the designs. This two piece conversation starter, purchased in Paris, is all created from true Vintage Bakelite (Simichrome tested) in linked yellow creamed corn squares with overlapping root bear and light yellow dominoes. (c. 1960) These squares are linked by small metal chains and separated by Toffee brown marbleized cubes. The set has a marvelous range of colors with creamed corn, marbleized and opaque, and root beer with black and white dots painted on the domino pieces. The necklace has a spring ring closure. The matching earrings are clip-ons, light weight and easy to wear. A great necklace and earring set for anyone who likes to play games or not. You will get noticed wherever you go. A winner for certain!

Condition: Excellent. Sold only as set.
Size: Necklace 24” long. Squares 1 1/4”, dominoes 11/4” long, 5/8” wide. Clip earrings 2” long, 1” wide.

RARE RUNWAY PARADISE ( Vintage “Isadora” French Bakelite Jewelry Necklace ): This large Vintage French “Isadora” necklace is a truly exceptional and important piece to add to any collection. (c. 1979) The theme of this bit of tropical paradise includes an exotic bird, a branch of coral, a large black blossom and – most special of all – a black celluloid perfume bottle containing the newly created perfume “Isadora”. (The glass perfume bottle inside the black container is still almost full of the original perfume.) I just love the colors! The tropical bird is peach and vanilla, the branch of coral is also those colors. Made of Galalith (often called French Bakelite), the exotic black blossom and black celluloid perfume container add drama to the peach, salmon and black circular and tubular beads. The perfume container is marked “ © Isadora 79” on the top and the back of the bird is marked “Isadora Paris” with the double art deco nude logo. There is a screw style closure. This necklace – typical of Isadora pieces, uses big bold elements to enhance the incredible necklace design. Isadora always wanted to give her pieces on exclusive, limited production so that her clientele had the feeling that they were wearing a rare jewelry piece. This is an early and rare runway necklace, not the simplified versions you see now. I feel that this conveys the best of Isadora's work. An unforgettable necklace that you will not see again.

Condition: Excellent. Never worn. Used only in a display of perfume bottles.
Size: Length 19”. Height of pendants/drops – Bird 4 3/4”, Coral 4 1/2”, Blossom 2”, Perfume container 1 1/2”.

HUMMINGBIRD WONDER ( Brad Elfrink Vintage Bakelite Jewelry Hummingbird Brooch / Pin ): One of today's most talented Bakelite artists – Brad Elfrink – uses only Vintage Bakelite in the most clever and artistic manner to create his bangles and pins. This exquisite ruby throated hummingbird seems to be hovering above a flower, waiting to dip his beak in for nectar. These tiny jewel-like wonders of nature beat their wings so fast and for so long......they are truly one of nature's amazing creations! This treasure is hand carved from five vibrant colors of Vintage Bakelite laminated together into a realistic, 3 dimensional, hummingbird pin. The colors are green, soft red, jade green, black and white. It is signed “Brad Elfrink”, “4-26-7”. Brad uses only Vintage Bakelite stock which he polishes to recover the original bright colors. The pin back is secured with rivets and has a safety clasp closure. This sweet treat is waiting to fly into you life.

Condition: Excellent / Mint.
Size: 3 1/8” wide, 1 3/4” high, 1/4” deep.

RICH CHOCOLATE BERRIES ( Vintage Bakelite Jewelry Carved Brown Bangle ): Highly sought after by collectors, this dark chocolate, richly carved Vintage Bakelite Bangle is just what you're looking for. (c. 1940's) Deeply carved, the pattern alternates between dimensional leaves and two sections of detailed berry clusters. A perfect bangle to wear alone or mix with cream corn, orange, green or a myriad of other colors. Truly an elegant and dramatic piece of Bakelite history. Bakelite is addicting but has no dangerous side effects so add this beauty to your “stack” of Vintage Bakelite!

Condition: Excellent.
Size: 3/4” wide, 1/2” thick, inner opening 2 1/2”.

TROPICAL MOONLIGHT ( Bruce Pantti Rare Vintage Bakelite Jewelry Brooch / Pin ): I have known contemporary artist, Bruce Pantti, for many years and he made this pin for me at my request. (c. 1995) Bruce uses only Vintage Bakelite for his creations and polishes them so that the original colors are bright as new. Out of my personal collection I am offering this beautiful pin of a marbleized translucent pale yellow moon peeking out from behind two hand carved palm trees. The trees have deeply carved cross hatching all the way up the trunks to the graceful marbleized deep green palm leaves. The whole scene has been laminated together. Pantti has engraved his signature on the back and affixed a safety clasp pin back. Bruce's work is featured in Karima Parry's book “Bakelite Pins”. Pins by Bruce Pantti are quite frankly – rare. He mainly makes Bakelite Bangles. Each pin is a one-of-a-kind creation. A perfect Vintage Bakelite pin that will recall visits to tropical destinations and provide a “pick-me-up” for all seasons. I love it and hope that one of you will love it too. A rare treasure at any price!

Condition: Excellent / Mint.
Size: 3 1/8” high, 2 1/2” wide, 1/4” deep.

LUSCIOUS ORANGE ( Vintage Carved Bakelite Jewelry Bangle ): Step into fashion with this lovely, thick hand carved orange Vintage Bakelite Bangle. (c. 1940) Deeply carved by the original Bakelite carvers, the design features two rows of leaves carved all the way around. Orange once again is a color on all fashion lists. Combine it with green, brown, black or almost any other Vintage Bangle. You, and others watching you, will be delighted. If you are a collector this luscious bangle will instantly express your fashion creativity and enthusiasm to own the best of Vintage Bakelite. Guaranteed to make any day sunny and bright!

Condition: Excellent.
Size: 1 1/8” high, 1/4” thick, 2 1/2” inner opening.

TANGY ORANGE ( Vintage Bakelite Jewelry Ring ): I found this beautifully marbleized high domed Vintage Bakelite Ring recently. (c. 1940) And it's orange – a high fashion color – perfect for Autumn or any season. I seldom find rings that are sized large enough for real human being to wear. Ring size is 6 1/2. (To decrease size I use Dr. Scholl's moleskin, cutting a piece to fit just inside the dome, trimming edges to make an oval shape. Works on most rings.) So grab this tangy treat! Slip it on and you are good to go – anytime, anywhere!

Condition: Excellent. The white blobs on the ring are light reflections.
Size: Dome is 7/8” across and 1/2” deep. Back of band is 1/4” wide. Ring size is 6 1/2.

PIERROT & ISADORA! ( Vintage French Bakelite Jewelry “Isadora” Necklace ): Pierrot & Isadora – what could be more French! This all black and white Vintage French Bakelite “Isadora” necklace is a truly exceptional piece to add to any collection. (c.1980) Besides the Pierrot figure whose arms move independently of the the body, you can see it has 3 stars and a white modular container which unscrews to reveal a vial of “Isadora” Perfume still 40% full. The perfume was named after the famous American barefoot modern dancer, Isadora Duncan. The rest of the necklace, all made of French Bakelite (Galalith, a milk based plastic), consists of black spherical beads except for the four cone shaped ones on each side of Pierrot. The necklace fastens with a screw closure within what looks like an oblong black bead. The back of the Pierrot figure is hot stamped “ISADORA PARIS” & “© ISADORA 1979”. Her trademark of twin Art Deco ladies is in the center. This necklace – typical of Isadora pieces – uses big, bold elements to enhance her necklace designs. I had searched for information about the creator of ISADORA for years. In 2011 I received a lovely email from her husband, Pierre Dinand. Here is part of what he said: “ISADORA was created by Danielle Poullain in 1976 and still exists in Paris today, she has never stopping her activity. Her Store is located in the St Germain area......She created jewelry for many Fashion designers including Karl Lagerfeld, Yves Saint Laurent, Missoni, Tiffany and Givenchy.” I am so grateful to him for writing so I could add this information for all of you who are fascinated by the lady and her jewelry, just as I am.

Condition: Excellent. Small defect in molding on side of one star point – see photo.
Size: Pierrot figure 4 1/2” high, 1 3/4” wide at arms. Stars 1 1/8” long. Perfume container 2 1/2” long, 5/8” in diameter. Beads 1/2” in diameter. Necklace 20” long.

CARAMEL & CREAM ( Vintage Bakelite Jewelry Bangles ): Don't these two bangles look good enough to eat? A “married” pair, each is made of three separate bands of Vintage Bakelite. One has two marbleized rootbeer translucent bands surrounding an opaque cream colored band, the other two marbleized cream colored bands surrounding a marbleized rootbeer translucent band. Beautiful and tasty decorations for your wrist!

Condition: Excellent.
Size: Each 7/8"wide, 1/4” deep and have a 2 1/2" inner openings.

PEACOCK PIN ( Vintage Bakelite Jewelry Brooch / Pin ): This is an elegant Vintage Bakelite Brooch with a relatively rare decorated metal inlay. It is a 3-dimensional disk engraved with an Art Deco design that reminds me of a Peacock. The plain central area, representing the body, neck and head, is elevated. The metal disk is set in a Bakelite disk swinging from a Bakelite bar. Both are made of marbleized olive Bakelite. Visualize how striking it would look on a beige or other light colored jacket pocket. Like a metal for excellent taste. All eyes will be on you!

Condition: Excellent.
Size: Total length 2 7/8”. Bar 1 3/4” wide, 5/8” high, 3/8” deep. Disk 1 3/4” in diameter, 1/2” deep.

TROPICAL TRIMMINGS ( Vintage Isadora French Bakelite Parrot Pierced Earrings ): Think what a hit these Isadora French Bakelite Earrings would be on your next Caribbean cruise or any trip South? They will dangle and dance from your ears. I love the way the color fades from the deep orange head to the lighter orange neck to the yellow, white and light blue body to the medium and dark blue tail. Though not marked I am sure these parrot earrings were designed be the famous Paris designer, Isadora – the designer of many of my very favorite large and striking French Bakelite necklaces. The fading of the colors is a trademark of hers and she did not mark double sided pieces such as this. The parrots swing from circular pierced ear wires which have small shell decorations in front and close securely. Since these Parrot Earrings are designed as right and left and double sided you will look great coming or going!

Condition: Excellent
.Size: 3 1/8” long, 3/4” wide, 1/4” deep.

SUNRISE / SUNFLOWER ( Vintage Bakelite Jewelry Carved Bangle Bracelet ): Vintage Bakelite collectors love these deep, heavily hand carved patterned bangles. (c. 1930-40) I can’t decide if it’s a sunrise or a sunflower design. Call it what you wish – this is the real thing. Imagine the master craftsman who held this round bangle against the cutting wheel to produce this complex design. The color is almost a light butterscotch or, if you prefer, a deep creamed corn. From my personal collection, I have always loved the way this Vintage Bakelite Bracelet made any day sunny and brighter. Match it up with black, brown, green, rootbeer – or for a very “today” look – try it with burgundy. You can add plain colored bangles on either side and this carved beauty will take the spotlight even more. If you are a serious collector this bangle will instantly express your fashion creativity and enthusiasm to own the very best of Vintage Bakelite.

Condition: Excellent.
Size: Just over 1” wide, 1/4' deep, 2 1/2” inner opening.

EGYPTIAN WINGED BEAUTY ( Brad Elfrink Vintage Bakelite Egyptian Scarab Beetle Pendant ): One of today's most talented Bakelite artists – Brad Elfrink – uses only Vintage Bakelite in the most clever and artistic manner to create his bangles and pins. I was lucky enough to know him and his work before he became popular with other Bakelite collectors. Here is a scarab pendant carved from vintage blue moon Bakelite with insets of tequila sunrise and marbleized red Bakelite. The design is borrowed from ancient Egyptian artifacts with the beetle in the middle surrounded by outstretched wings that meet at the disc of red Bakelite which symbolizes the sun. The ancient Egyptians believed that the sun was rolled across the sky in its orbit by a scarab beetle. A beautiful piece of jewelry with the dark swirled blue moon looking similar to lapis lazuli. Blue is a color that you no longer see in Vintage Bakelite pieces from the 1930's and 1940's since it turns brown with time. Brad buffs off the patina to show you the original beautiful colors of this and his other pieces. This pendant hangs from a Sterling bale and 24” Sterling chain. The back is inscribed with Brads name and the date 10-4-06. This is a one-of-a-kind beauty. Remember to keep all of your Vintage Bakelite in dark drawers or boxes to help maintain the original colors.

Condition: Excellent. Chain included.
Size: 2” wide, 1 3/4” high, 1/8” deep.

** Frog not included and is for display purposes only**
